This is a side project of mine, but I had some offers to print it for shirts as well. The concept behind it was simple—the logo visually represented Omerta and its connotations. From Wikipedia:
Omertà is a popular attitude and code of honor, common in areas of southern Italy, such as Sicily, Calabria, and Campania, where criminal organizations like the Mafia, 'Ndrangheta, and Camorra are strong. A common definition is the "code of silence".
The logo is simply the word OMERTA, with the T becoming a cross that connects into a skeleton key. I used the skeleton key because it literally connotes death merely by its name, and it represents silence as well. The cross also enforces the idea of death, so it translates as “silence to death.”
I also made a logo application that uses grungy concrete that reminisces of a crime scene, with the tagline “trust is eternal.”
Would be a cool Mafia Wars-esque design, but I just ended up scrapping it for anything else except personal work. If you’re curious, the font I used is Bauer Bodoni.
