Third Renaissance: DIY revolution

The time is fast approaching where every knick-knack and trinket could be made, in your home, with your very own PF. Similar to the PC, the PF is personal alright. But instead of a computer, it’s a fabricator.

The Personal Fabricator could easily be the next revolution in our modern world. Just like the freedom and power of “cyberspace” gave rise to a boon of truly amazing products, people and franchises, this next wave of innovation is slated to be no less important. Perhaps more so, because it treads into our daily lives, not just the digital ones.

It may seem far-fetched or even downright silly, but many said the same thing about the internet, and now look where we are!

An interesting article discussing this revolution here.

The pieces of this revolution

There’s a kickstarter project for a CNC machine, I encourage you to help fund it! With the combination of the Makerbot, a CNC machine could do some really cool stuff.

Soon we can build even more robust DIY systems for an all-encompassing solution. DIY metal casting anyone? It already exists in the backyards of folks all over.

Combine all this DIY “quick-and-dirty” tech with sites like Thingiverse, which offer free templates for CAD designs, and you’ve got the ingredients for an innvation explosion.

Let’s help make it happen!
